Jim Morasch / Jerry Olson Memorial Scholarships

The Northwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (NWAAAE) is dedicated to supporting student efforts in their desire to become aviation professionals. To further this objective, the NWAAAE offers a Scholarship for students who are pursuing degrees in aviation.

Four scholarships will be awarded annually by the NWAAAE in the amount of $1000/scholarship. Two scholarships will go to students residing in Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, Washington, Utah or Wyoming. Two scholarships will go to students residing in the Northwest Territories, and the provinces of the Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba or Saskatchewan of Canada. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in aviation.

The submission deadline for the 2017 Scholarship Application is November 15th with scholarships awarded by December 31, 2017. The application can be downloaded here.

Allied Professions Scholarship

The Northwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (NWAAAE) supports students who choose to pursue a degree in a course of study allied with the airport management profession.  It is the belief of NWAAAE that these students, through their chosen professions, contribute in a positive way to the field of Airport management, either as an alternative entry point into the field through varying avenues of support.

To further this objective, NWAAAE has established the Allied Professions Scholarship with the intent of supporting Chapter members or dependents of Chapter members who are enrolled as full time junior or senior year students at an accredited college or university in the following undergraduate programs:

  • Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Information Technology
  • Business Administration
  • Finance/Accounting

The scholarship is open to all categories of Chapter members and their dependents based on the following criteria:

  1. Chapter member or dependent must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

The submission deadline for the 2017 Allied Scholarship is November 15th with scholarships awarded by December 31, 2017. The application can be downloaded here.

 

Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Scholarship

The Northwest Chapter AAAE (NWAAAE) supports members who choose to pursue becoming an Airport Certified Employee (ACE) in the areas of Airfield Operation, Airfield Lighting Maintenance, Security, Communications, Airport Trusted Agent, and Safety Management Systems through the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).

To further this objective, NWAAAE has established the Airport Certified Employee (ACE) scholarship program with the intent of supporting Chapter members who desire to attain Airport Certified Employee (ACE) certification through AAAE.  Both the online self-study and in person review course provided by AAAE are eligible for scholarship funding.

The scholarship is open to all categories of Chapter members based on the following criteria:

  1. Applicant must have been a member of the Northwest Chapter for at least one year prior to the date of application.
  2. Applicant must be employed at an airport within the Northwest Chapter region or a company providing services to an airport(s) within the Northwest Chapter region.

Applications and all supporting documents for 2018 ACE Scholarships must be received by February 28th with scholarships awarded by March 15th.  Scholarship recipients will have until December 1st of 2018 to achieve their ACE designation at which time the Chapter will reimburse them for the registration costs of the ACE program upon submittal of receipts.  The scholarship award is intended to reimburse expenses net of any other employer support or scholarship received for same costs.  A scholarship application can be downloaded here.

 

Pete Hill Memorial Accreditation Scholarship

The Northwest Chapter allocates funds each year for Chapter members who desire to attain Accredited Airport Executive Status (A.A.E.) through AAAE. Upon successful completion of the final interview and attainment of A.A.E. status, the candidate will receive $250, plus a paid registration to the next NWAAAE Annual Chapter Conference. To be eligible for this Scholarship, the candidate must have been a NWAAAE member for at least one year.  The Chapter’s appointee to the AAAE Board of Examiners will notify the Executive Secretary of a candidate’s completion, for payment as appropriate.
